If they don't know the ruling, why don't they ask? The only cure for ignorance is asking questions.

Lacking knowledge is completely natural. The real issue lies not in the absence of knowledge, but in the unwillingness to ask. Many mistakes occur not because of bad intentions, but because someone chooses to remain silent when they should be seeking answers.
In Surah An-Nahl: 43, Allah says: "Ask those who have knowledge if you do not know."
Asking Questions is Key to Human Learning and Adaptation
The ability to ask questions is one of the signs of human intelligence that allows us to learn effectively, find our way in new environments, and adapt to different situations.Picture your first day at a new job. You don't know the procedures, you don't know the systems, you don't even know where to start. Instead of spending hours trying to figure everything out on your own, one simple question to a coworker can get you exactly the answer you need. That's the power of asking.
You know that feeling when you have a question but you stay quiet because you're afraid people will think you're not smart enough? That's exactly what holds us back. The ones who speak up and admit "I don't understand" are actually the fastest learners. Because they'd rather admit what they don't know than pretend they have it all figured out.
The right question can completely change the way we see something For example: When a trend or issue goes viral on social media, most people jump straight to commenting, sharing, or even protesting without really knowing what's going on.But people who are used to asking questions like "Did it really happen that way?", "What's the context?", "Where did this come from?" are the ones who don't get swept up so easily. They don't just go along with the crowd, they're people who actually understand the situation before making a decision.
Asking questions isn't just about finding information from the outside, it's also about understanding yourself on a deeper level. Questions like "Why do I feel this way?", "What do I actually want?", or "Is this decision really good for me?" are the ones that help us grow in self-awareness and make better decisions for ourselves.
