We tend to judge if our prayers are "answered" by whether we get what we asked for. Ask for a spouse, get a spouse, means it's answered. Ask for a job, get a job means it's heard. But what if we haven't gotten it yet? That's when the doubts start. The thing is, Allah's ways of answering prayers are so much broader than just giving us exactly what we ask for.

The Ways Allah Answers PrayersRasulullah (ﷺ) said: "No Muslim supplicates to Allah with a prayer except that Allah will surely grant it to him, or He will avert from him an evil equivalent to it.This applies as long as he does not pray for sin or for severing family ties."Then someone said, "In that case, we shall increase our prayers." The Prophet replied, "Allah gives even more (than what you ask for)."
Sometimes we pray with full hope to get something, but we don't receive it. Then years later we realize, " I'm grateful Allah didn't grant that, it would've caused me problems." For example: praying to be accepted at company A, not being granted it, then ending up at company B, which turns out to be far better. Allah knows what we don't know. Sometimes what feels like rejection from Allah is actually protection.
We often have specific expectations about how our prayers should be answered. "I prayed to be rich, so I should get an inheritance, right?!" But Allah might give us a different path, maybe a new skill, a business opportunity, or a provision from a direction we never expected. Don't be narrow-minded in expecting answers to your prayers, because Allah's ways are far beyond our imagination.
Allah's timing is always perfect, even when we can't see it now. Sometimes we want something "right now," but Allah postpones it because we're not ready, or it's simply not the right time yet. For example: Think of a patient begging a doctor for surgery immediately. The doctor might say "not yet", not because they don't want to help, but because the patient's body needs to be stronger first. They're ensuring the best outcome. That's how Allah works too, delayed doesn't mean denied.
Don't Be Impatient in PrayerRasulullah (ﷺ) said: "A servant's prayer will be answered as long as he does not pray for something sinful or to sever family ties, and as long as he is not hasty." It was asked: "O Messenger of Allah, what does being hasty mean?"He replied: "It is when he says: 'I have prayed and prayed, but I have not found my prayer answered.' Then he becomes frustrated and abandons prayer."
In Surah Al-Baqarah: 186, Allah says: "When My servants ask you ˹O Prophet˺ about Me: I am truly near. I respond to one’s prayer when they call upon Me. So let them respond ˹with obedience˺ to Me and believe in Me, perhaps they will be guided ˹to the Right Way˺."
